Other Stuff This page contains various things that don't belong on the other pages, but that might prove useful with DellT@lk (and beyond). If you want to place some HTML into the text of your post you can do so by substituting < for < and > for >. However, if you do this don't preview your post. If you do, the < and > will be converted by the Webboard into < and > and your text will then become HTML which at best will make it meaningless and at worst mess up your entire post (this is particularly true if you are working with commands associated with tables). If you settle on a signature that you want as your default signature, you can enter the HTML for it in the block provided in your Profile ("Edit My Profile") and it will automatically be added each time you post a message. If you would like some additional information on basic HTML commands provided in context, a very fine source is Annabella's HTML Help. If you want detailed descriptions of any and all HTML commands, a comprehensive reference is available to you at HTML Code Tutorial. If you want to get fancy with your signature, you are welcome to visit my site (but it's been advertised in my posts for so long that you probably already have if you are interested). Finally, if you see a post in DellT@lk that you really like the looks of, right-click the post and select "View Source." This will show you precisely what HTML the author used to produce the effect that caught your eye. If the author has chosen to have his/her email address displayed in the profile, you will probably be able to get help in making a similar post work if you have trouble with it. (I received a ton of help when I first started. Most of the authors are happy to share their knowledge.) When It Hits the Fan There may be occasions when you inadvertently make a mistake with the HTML you place in a post and as a result the post does not display properly. Most of the time you will be able to click "Edit" and make the corrections. Sometimes, however, the "Edit" button will not be available. In these cases, you can recover by doing the following: 1. Right-click the title of your post and select "Copy shortcut" 2. Click in the Address block of your browser and Edit|Paste. This will paste the URL of your post, which will look like this: http://delltalk.us.dell.com/messages/message_view.asp?name=genquest&id=zzquc&bandwidth=fra 3. Make the following change to that URL: http://delltalk.us.dell.com/messages/message_edit.asp?name=genquest&id=zzquc&bandwidth=fra 4. Press <Enter> and your message will open up in Edit mode.
